My name is Andrea Merrill and this is The Naturalist Life.

The Naturalist Life

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest was an utter privilege and I spent so much time out in nature. During the summers, my family and I would go camping and spend so much time in all that Washington offers.

Back in 2017, I started the site ‘Animals of the Pacific Northwest’ and starting writing about pet care, environmentalism, and the wildlife found in the Pacific Northwest region.

The Naturalist Life is an extension of ‘Animals of the Pacific Northwest’ but focuses on more general topics related to environmentalism and the wild animals that live around the world.

Currently living on Lummi and Nooksack land in Washington state and right near the Salish Sea.

“We stand now where two roads diverge. But unlike the roads in Robert Frost’s familiar poem, they are not equally fair. The road we have long been traveling is deceptively easy, a smooth superhighway on which we progress with great speed, but at its end lies disaster. The other fork of the road — the one less traveled by — offers our last, our only chance to reach a destination that assures the preservation of the earth.”
